About 1140-1150 Study of the Scriptures was an important philosophical and intellectual endevour in the 12th century. These leaves reproduce the letters of St Paul in larger text, and a gloss commenting on it by Gilbert de la Porée. Gilbert was a celebrated scholar who taught at Chartres before becoming bishop of Poiters in 1142. France, possibly Poiters (9037,A-B)

About 1275 These leaves were cut from a large choirbook of chants sung during church services. The capitol P comtains a scene of the Nativity, a sutible subject for Mass on Christmas Day.
