All of the HTML and text processing for the Java and Prolog was done in BBEdit on a pair of Apple Macintosh G3s, a PowerBook G4 and a PowerMac G5; and Emacs on various Unicies. All HTML was created by hand, with the exception of the Imagemap, created with the help of Imagemapper. Where images were created, they were done in Adobe Photoshop, for the simple titles, or Adobe Illustrator, for the more complex layout.
Typefaces for images are Skia, by Apple Computer, for titling; Lydian, by Monotype via Palm Computing, and Modern No. 20, by Microsoft, for accent. The image for the background image of the title was taken from The Language Museum, and is roughly translated as:
When heaven above was not yet named, nor earth below pronounced by name, Apsu, the first one, their begetter and maker Tiamat, who bore them all, had mixed their waters together, but had not formed pastures, nor discovered reed-beds. When yet no gods were manifest, nor names pronounced, nor destinies decreed, then gods were born within them.
All of the work on these pages, as well as the various programs and scripts that run in the background, were created by Aaron Macks, copyright 1999-2005.
