Which watch winder do you recommend?
In our opinion, the only watches that should ever spend time on a winder are perpetual calendars or other watches with complex date mechanisms where resetting the date frequently becomes a great inconvenience and/or causes excess wear to the mechanism.
The reason is that automatic watch winders cause extra wear to the automatic mechanism, the mainspring, both the barrel and the spring itself, and the gears. We have seen too many watches with worn out movements caused by spending a lot of time on a winder. Winding on the winder could also expose the hairspring to magnetic fields. Magnetized hairsprings are one of the most common causes of erratic rate and, although easily repaired, are a great annoyance.
Watches are made and adjusted to be worn 12-18 hours and day and rest for the night and when you are not wearing them. Some people are under the impression that if the watch is not running, the lubricant will dry out and cause the watch to need service, but this is not the case. All modern oils are synthetic and do not dry out in normal environments. Most of the recent popularity in buying winders was started by companies trying to sell you winders.
