Among the 38 manuscripts digitized is a deluxe late-Gothic copy of St. Augustine's On the City of God against the Pagans, which nobody ever calls by its full name. Ross.261 opens with a table of contents and then begins the main text on f.1v with a collection of marginal decorations and the fantastic enhabited initial seen to the right. This letter "G" to start Gloriosissimam is almost unrecognizable containing within itself a grumpy, crowned dragon, clutching a human head in its talon who is breathing out an entire walled gothic city, complete with towers in red and blue and purple. Further out there's a Bishop piercing the dragon with a lance and several soldiers....soldiering.

The bottom border is from Vat.lat.5675, f.4r. This is part of the border of an elaborate title page of a work defending the veneration of Corpus Christi, complete with a very side-eyed horse carrying the Host.
