Due to the Feast of the Ascension falling this week, the Vatican digitizers were rather quiet, uploading nineteen manuscripts in total. The most, eight, were contributed by Reg.gr, with Ott.lat adding five and Vat.lat four. One manuscript each was added from Barb.lat and Capp.Giulia, completing the weeks work. The Barberini volume, Barb.lat.4135 is one of the small 17th C musical volumes that are added, a few per week, to the online archives. Due to the organization of the collection, these are all shelved in the 4xxx range.
To the right is f.1r from Reg.gr.60, a 12th C manuscript containing the Vita Metaphrastica of the ascetic Johannes Calybita. Now you might immediately point out that the image is one of St. Christopher, and that he's not John, which is true and, of yet, unexplained.
At the bottom is a bit of the frame from f.1r of a 15th C manuscript of sermons by Haymo of Auxerre, now Ott.lat.355.
