Although this is the second week of the year, no manuscripts were added in the last week, and so this becomes the first entry for 2025. A total of forty manuscripts were added, the majority, twenty-two, from the Capp.Sist.Diari collection. Four more of the Bulla Ineffabilis volumes of the Sire collection were digitized, as two each from Borg.cin and Vat.lat. Finally a single item was added from each of Barb.lat, Capp.Sist, Vat.estr.or, and Vat.gr
A particular fond of note was Urb.lat, which added six volumes. All of these contain Avvisi, (Notices), which are a sort of short reports on newsworthy events collected by agents in foreign cities and sent back to a king, emperor, or pope. These were sometimes even printed and sold, forming an early sort of newspaper. The digitization of thirty-eight of these has recently been sponsored by the Tinexta Group, so more are expected soon1.
To the right is the large heraldic medallion from f.IIr of Capp.Sist.Diari.97. This captures two distinct sets of arms, the larger one are the arms of Pope Innocent XI (born Benedetto Odescalchi), with the beehive crown and crossed keys of the Pope. Below is the smaller arms of Cardinal Giacomo Rospigliosi, who was the Cardinal overlord of the Cappella Sistina in 1697. It has the red Galero and tassels (in this case 12) indicitive of the rank of Cardinal
At the bottom is a line of entries from f.86r of Vat.estr.or.16. This is a rhyming dictionary of Chinese from Kangxi 28, or 1689.
