Thirty-one manuscripts were digitized this week, starting with an unprecedented 4 on Sunday. The work on the Rossiani collection continues, with another four added this week. These are frequently elaborately decorated, which should mean that they are described in the recently published I manoscritti Rossiani. Biblioteca apostolica vaticana, edited by Silvia Maddalo and Eva Ponzi and published in 2014. (Studi e Testi #481-483). For unexplained reasons the profusely illustrated genealogical work, Das Tucherbuch Ross.546 was not included so I have included f.7v to the right.

Work also continues on Vat.lat.58xx manuscripts, including several volumes dedicated to Julio de Medici, future Pope Clement VII. One of these, Vat.lat.5803 seems to have incomplete illustrations which still preserve notes to the illuminator. The bottom border is tanke from f.2r of another of these Medici-dedicated volumes, Vat.lat.5800

Another grouping this week is of books of drawings made by Filippo Bigioli in the mid 19th C. These are grouped into illustrated stories, for instance the history of the BVM, starting with the Fall. Several of the volumes have accompanying caption books, though it seems that at some point in the past the volumes were misordered, as Vat.lat.9502.pt.B describes Vat.lat.9501, and vice versa. This actually not the only historic cataloging error of the week, Vat.lat.9497, a 15th C Florentine Book of Hours was shelved with a duplicate shelfmark Vat.lat.9491 until 1891
