In total fifty-eight manuscripts were digitized this week. Trends continuing as last week with Ross, seventeen, and Barb.lat, sixteen, the most populous fonds, followed by Reg.lat with twelve. Vat.lat and Pal.lat each contributed six and the week was completed with a single Syriac volume from Borg.sir. It is interesting to note that ALL of the Pal.lat volumes are printed annual calendar/diary volumes with hand written annotations. Most are from Johann Casimir, but there's one from Ludwig IV and possibly one from Frederich IV. One manuscript is an unresolved mystery, Vat.lat.8540 was added on Thursday, but yields a "Only accessable in our reading rooms" error.

To the right is a folio 3v from Vat.lat.9016, a Portolan chart made in Venice by Gratiosi Beninasa in 1471, so identified in Tony Campbell's Portolan Census. A Portolan chart is a type of early modern mariners map using rhumb lines to denote the directions from specific central ports to other cities. This particular folio is oriented with north to the right, and the British Isles at the center. England (Ingliterra) and Scotland (Scocia) are shown disconnected, with a strange knotted river running between them, and Ireland (Irlanda) outlined in green.

The bottom is from a 15th C copy of plays by the Roman comedic writer Plautus, f2.r from Barb.lat.153. This page is decorated in a style common in 15th C Italy often referred to as "white vine", for somewhat obvious reasons, but this artist has exceeded the usual work by a wide margin. There are putti, birds and even a hare cavorting in the vines that frame the page, and a second block of vines, interconnected to the first, carrying the large capitol letters. At the bottom of the page there is a small cartouche announcing the owner/patron of the work "Hic liber est Guidonis Bonacti"
