Another rather quiet week this week with only thirty-nine manuscripts digitized, all uploaded on Monday. The distribution across collections does not follow recent patterns, with the vast majority coming from Vat.lat, 27 in total. The remainder come from Ross and Ott.lat, with four each, Vat.ar with three and a single volume from Barb.lat. That final volume is a lovely collection of hagiography, containing the Vita or Passion for six different saints, in a strong Beneventan hand.

The Vat.ar fond has not been seen very often, with only a single additional volume in the year. These three are all copies of the Quran, though from different times and places. The border below is from one of these volumes, Vat.ar.548, a 16th C copy. This line of text is from a flyleaf at the end of the text, f.21r, which contains some pen trials and this line. The text is vocalized, as is the entire manuscript, with all the possible pronunciation guides (skoon, shaddah, word seperators, etc). A rough translation (not mine) of the text is "O lord save us from eternal jahanam(hell), that is terrible"

To the right is f.22r from Vat.lat.10221, a copy of Justinian's Institutiones with the glosses of Accursius. The script is a Littera Bononiensis, whether or not the manuscript originates in Bologna, it follows the style of those works used in training civil lawyers. Following the layout of a page of the Talmud, the main text is in the middle, in dark black ink, and it is surrounded by commentary.
