Another slow week, with a total of twenty-seven manuscripts digitized into the Vatican archives. The largest segment came from Ott.lat, which contributed fifteen. The Chigiani collection continues to add 17th C musical volumes, with six digitized this week. The Barg.gr collection added four, and then the week wraps up with a single volume each from Barb.lat and Vat.gr

To the right is f.124r from Ott.lat.828, a 16th C manuscript listing the popes, from Peter through Gregory XIII, with Antipope Felix IV as an appendix. Each pope is given a short poetic epigram, the dates of their tenure, and a portrait. To the right is the portrait given for Pope Lando, a Roman who was pope from September 913 through March 914, according to modern estimates. Not a single act or legal document survives from his reign. His one claim to fame is being the last pope, before Francis to have a unique name.

At the bottom is part of the bottom edge from f.2r of Ott.lat.793, a 15th C manuscript containing a dialogue against the Fraticelli dedicated to Cardinal Bessarion. This image is from the preface of the work, a letter dedicating it to Bessarion, and shows the cardinal sitting in judgement of a Fransiscan. He does not look pleased.
