Vatican Manuscripts Added Week 28 of 2025

Only four manuscripts were digitized this week, and all on Friday. Although far too small a sample to prove a pattern, two of the manuscripts were from Barb.lat, and one each from Capp.Sist and Ott.lat.

To the right is f.8v from Barb.lat.2666, a collection of letters and documents relating to the church in Hungary during the time of Pope Leo X. It is written in a hand that is beautiful from a distance, and on closer inspection resolves into almost incoherence.

At the bottom is a line of music, complete with scribal correction, from f.2r of Capp.Sist.357. This is an 18th C volume of music by multiple composers, but the main part, ff.1r-91r, is a motet setting of Psalm 149 by Rinaldo di Capua.
