Vatican Manuscripts Added Week 14 of 2026

A total of nineteen manuscripts were digitized this week. The vast majority, thirteen, were from the Ott.lat collection, with the remaining contributions being three from Comb, and one each from Barb.lat and Vat.gr. Despite the ratios being somewhat skewed, this stays in-line with the pattern of recent weeks.

To the right is p.1 from Vat.gr.649. This is a copy of some Epistles by Isidore of Pelusium that was copied by Giovanni Onorio, official scribe of the Vatican from 1535 to 1563, in 1554. It is signed and dated, in Latin despite the manuscript being Greek, on p.218.

At the bottom is a bit from f.196r of Ott.lat.2019, a 15th C copy of Gellius' Attic Nights. This particular manuscript was copied by Lazzarino Resta de Milan, secretary to Pope Alexander V, and these lines are from the end of his subscription text. Interestingly it is in a slightly different hand than the main manuscript, and more heavily abbreviated
