A quiet week this week, with only eight manuscripts added to the online repository. On the technical side, the listings from the Pinakes Project, under the auspices of the IRHT have been imported and are getting automatically linked. This is a massive boon for identifying the Greek manuscripts. So far 1,936 of the 4,689 manuscripts in their database have been digitized, so it should provide identification far into the future. For this week only Vat.gr.1967 matches. Sadly, though a palimsest with full UV photography, neither the Vatican nor Pinakes identify the manuscript only noting that it came from a Greek monastery in southern Italy.
Of the Latin manuscripts added, Reg.lat.852 is particularly interesting. It consists of a 6-folio Formulary from 9th C Tours and a later copy of the legal work Epitome Aegidii, see f.47v to the right. The Formulary uses an early version of Caroline Minuscule, with an open-topped 'a' and the Uncial-style 'nt', making some words particularly puzzling, such as 'reuestantur' from f.3r below. In addition both texts make extensive use of a wide assortment of Tironian notes.
