Vatican Manuscripts Added Week 24 of 2021

Only twenty-one manuscripts were digitized this week. Trends of the last few weeks continue to hold, Armenian texts contribute five, Vat.gr another nine, and four more related to Gaetano Marini.

The image to the right is the first text page (v.2r) from Vat.lat.5735, a copy of the Dialogues of Gregory the Great that was written at Montecassino around 1076-1079. There are two scribes who can be identified as having worked on it and the second, not the artist of this page, is known as "The Desiderius Dialogues Scribe", for his work on this and another volume, Vat.lat.1203 of a Dialogues by Desiderius, abbot of Montecassino and future Pope Victor III.

The bottom border is from a 15th-16th C copy of Proclus' Commentary on the Parmenides, Vat.gr.1799, f.1r
